GLENVALE KITCHENS WIN KBB INDUSTRY DESIGN AWARD IN LONDON


Glenvale Kitchens who are based in the small border town of Keady have won the National KBB Industry Awards. It was a design created by Darren Morgan, one of the Glenvale team, that secured Glenvale Kitchens the National Recognition that they have long deserved and won Darren the prestigious title of “Designer of the Year 2009”. The KBB awards are considered to be the Industry Oscars for anyone working within the kitchens and Bathrooms sector. The competition is open to interior designers, architects and independent kitchen and bathroom retailers from all across the UK and the whole of Ireland and attracts the biggest names in the kitchen and bathroom industry. For the first time in the 15 year history of the awards all of the design category finalists travelled to the Royal Institute of British Architects in London so that they could present their design in person to a distinguished judging panel of industry experts. The judges commented on Darren’s winning design by saying: “This kitchen represents such great value for money. It’s very functional and Darren has come up with some really good solutions to a challenging space. It’s a technically excellent job and is very client specific. Given the space and the budget he’s maximized everything fantastically.” All the finalists attended the black tie award ceremony on 11^th May2009 at the ExCeL in London and the winners were announced with the traditional opening of an envelope. Marcus Brigstocke, comedian and host for the evening, was on hand to present Darren with the accolade. Commenting on the win Darren said; "Every once in a while something special happens and winning the kbbreview awards is one of those times! Winning this award is the highlight of my career to date and it is also a real embellishment for the entire Glenvale team. I may have created the initial concept and design but it was the entire team that made the design a reality for the client." Although established 15 years ago as Glenvale Design the company refocused itself three years ago and was re-launched as Glenvale Kitchens, since then they haven’t looked back and are now one of the leading kitchen design companies in Ireland. Aidan McCooey, Proprietor of Glenvale Kitchens said. “We are all so proud of what we have achieved. I have believed for a long time that Glenvale Kitchens has one of the best design teams in the industry and we have finally been recognized. This is the first time that we have ever put ourselves forward for something like this and it’s great to come out on top”.

Another two of Darren Morgan's design's have reached the latter stages of "The Design Awards 2009 with one design coming in in the top four. The Design Awards is a scheme to celebrate excellence in professional kitchen and bathroom design in the UK and is organised by the publishers of "designer" magazine. This is another extremely high profile industry event attracting the best designers in the industry.

Glenvale Kitchens had been nominated for 3 separate awards and came out victorious in one of the prestigious design categories. Darren Morgan lifted the title of "Designer of the Year 2010" and collected his accolade from comedian and host Patrick Kielty. Darren commented; "Winning this KRI design award is a major highlight in my career and one which personally, I am extremely proud of. Giving the distinguished lineup of finalists I am absolutely delighted that the judges chose my design as the winner . This award reflects the professionalism and passion of the entire Glenvale Kitchens team and especially the fitters who make the design teams ideas a reality. It is an absolute honour to have my name on the award in the very first year as I am sure this event will grow from strength to strength in the years to come. Thanks also to the organisers who treated us exceptionally well on the night". This win affirms Glenvale's position as one of the leading kitchen design companies in the UK and Ireland.
